RA Melbourne IWD Industry lunch | Megan Bourke-O’Neil | 6 Mar 2026
Join us in Melbourne this International Women’s Day, as we explore how major infrastructure programs are embedding diversity and inclusion into planning, delivery and workforce strategies to attract and retain talent for a resilient, productive and future-ready transport sector.
As we evolve into Transport Australia, our focus is broadening to road, rail, and active transport, and the whole-of-network thinking applies to inclusion. If we want a transport system that’s more productive, resilient and community-focused, we need a workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
The conversation will kickstart with a keynote address by Suburban Rail Loop Authority’s COO, Megan Bourke-O’Neil on Suburban Rail Loop’s leading Diversity and Inclusion initiatives, highlighting how SRL is lifting industry standards in culture, capability, and workforce experience, while intentionally designing a network that improves access to economic hubs for women and culturally diverse communities.
As soon as the event’s formalities have concluded, there will be a meet and greet opportunity with representatives from SRL East’s all women tunnel boring machine crew, a great example of what inclusive workforce pathways can achieve. This initiative is being delivered by CPB Contractors, as part of the Suburban Connect consortium that’s delivering SRL East’s southern section of tunnels between Cheltenham and Glen Waverley.
The pathway to a more representative industry is a shared one. Our IWD lunches are open for all genders and careers. Collectively, we can make a difference and we hope to see a diverse audience at all our lunches, committing to a culture of inclusion.
